Business terms for listed installers

Last updated: 14 October 2026

Draft, pre-launch. This page is a working draft for a site that has not launched. The operator's address for legal notices has not been confirmed yet, and this text has not been reviewed by an solicitor. Do not rely on it until this notice is removed.

These terms apply to any business that claims or adds a listing on spark-up.co, or that receives quote requests through it (a Business, you). They apply in addition to the terms of use and the privacy policy. Spark Up (we, us, our) is operated by MCLACHLAN, RICHARD ANDREW (sole trader).

1. Your listing

  • Many listings are created by us from public information (your website and your public Google Maps listing). You can take control of your listing to correct it, or ask us to remove it, at any time.
  • You confirm that you are authorised to act for the business, and that what you put on the listing (services, area covered, prices, warranty, scheme registration, OZEV approval) is true and kept up to date.
  • Listing a business is free. If we introduce paid features, we will tell you in advance and they will be optional: nothing will be charged without your agreement.
  • We may edit, decline, suspend or remove a listing that is inaccurate, misleading, outside the scope of the directory (EV charger installation and repair, with general electricians who fit chargers listed after the specialists) or in breach of these terms.

2. You are an independent business

You are not our employee, agent, partner or franchisee. You alone are responsible for your quotes, your work, your staff and subcontractors, your taxes, and for meeting every legal requirement for the work you do, including the Building Regulations (Part P in England and Wales, and the equivalents in Scotland and Northern Ireland), BS 7671, the Electric Vehicles (Smart Charge Points) Regulations 2021 for the chargers you supply, network operator notification, and holding suitable insurance. We do not check these, and listing you is not a statement by us that you meet them.

3. Quote requests

  • We invite a small number of businesses to each request, matched on the services you state, your distance from the customer and your public ratings. We do not promise any number of requests.
  • Quoting stays open for up to 48 hours after confirmation, or earlier once 3 quotes arrive. A business that has not responded may be replaced after 60 minutes. Interested reserves a place for up to 24 hours, within the quoting deadline. Replacements depend on suitable businesses being available; more than 3 businesses may be contacted. These are the default timings; the deadlines shown on each request apply to that request.
  • Quote honestly from the answers and photos: say which charger you will fit, what is included (cable run, protection, earthing, any fuse box work, certification, notification), and what could change the price after a survey. Honour your quote unless the property differs from what was described.
  • The contract for the work is between you and the customer. We are not a party to it.

4. Customers' information

  • Use a customer's information only to quote for, arrange and carry out that customer's job, and for any grant claim they ask you to make. Do not add customers to marketing lists, and do not sell or pass their information to anyone else.
  • Before a customer chooses you, communicate through the on-site chat. Do not ask for or send phone numbers, email addresses or links to get around it: the chat blocks them, and repeated attempts can lead to removal.
  • Once a customer chooses you, you receive their contact details and become a separate controller of them under UK data protection law. You may call or text them about that job only, and you are responsible for complying with UK GDPR and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations when you do.
  • Keep customers' information secure, and delete it when you no longer need it for the job, your warranty or your legal records.

5. Conduct

Do not post false reviews, pay for reviews, misstate your ratings, disparage other businesses on the Site, or create more than one listing for the same location. Do the work you quoted for, to a professional standard, give the customer the certificates the work needs, and deal with complaints promptly.

6. Your content

You give us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to display your business name, logo, description, prices, photos and quotes on the Site and in the emails the Site sends to customers. You confirm you have the right to give it.

7. Messages from us

We email you about requests, quotes, chat messages and your listing. These are service messages. Any promotional email we send you will tell you how to opt out, and we will honour that.

8. Responsibility

You are responsible for claims that arise from your quotes, your work, your staff or your use of customers' information, and you agree to cover our reasonable losses and costs if such a claim is brought against us. The limits of liability for business users in the terms of use apply to you.

9. Ending

You can stop using the Site, or ask us to remove your listing and close your account, at any time by emailing [email protected]. We can suspend or end your access if you break these terms. Requests you have already accepted should still be completed.

10. Changes

We will post changes here with a new date and email account holders about material changes before they take effect.
